RAMO LAW’S ELSA RAMO NAMED “BEST LAWYER IN AMERICA”

Entertainment law firm Ramo Law PC announced that Managing Partner Elsa Ramo is recognized in the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers in America. Best Lawyer awards are compiled by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers and honor only the top 5.3% of elite lawyers in the nation across 150 practice areas.

Elsa Ramo represents over 100 films and 50 television scripted and unscripted series per year, providing comprehensive legal services to producers, financiers, creators and owners of film, television and digital content and projects across a range of budgets and production levels.

Ramo founded the firm in 2005 on the Universal Studios backlot to enable up-and-coming filmmakers to bring their stories to life. Ramo now manages a bi-coastal firm of 18 attorneys and represents prolific producers including Imagine Entertainment, Kevin Hart’s production companies Laugh Out Loud and HartBeat Productions, Balboa Productions (Sylvester Stallone’s production company), Scout Productions (“Queer Eye”), Boardwalk Pictures (“Chefs Table”), Skydance, The Jim Henson Company, Yale Productions, and Hello Sunshine.

Ramo’s leadership within the legal and entertainment communities extends beyond her successful Beverly Hills firm. She dedicates substantial time to mentoring women through various organizations such as PEFA. Additionally, Elsa is a go-to commentator and instructor on legal issues related to film financing and the entertainment market for media outlets including Variety, LA Times, Fox News, and The Wrap.

Ramo has become a lead commenter on the impact of Covid-19 on production. She has been interviewed on Fox 11 News, Fox 11 Live, and KNX 1070; she has been quoted by Indiewire Variety, and The Wrap (1, 2); and her article “5 Things Producers Should Do When They Can’t Produce” was published in The Wrap.

She recently served on the Beverly Hills Bar Association 2019 Entertainment Year in Review panel, has hosted webinars with Stage32, participated in a pitch workshop with Winston Baker, and is an ambassador for the UCLA Entertainment Law Symposium. She has mentored many college and law school interns, some of whom now work at the firm. She regularly supports charities advocating for women in the industry, such as Women in Media, Women Creating Change, Film Fatales, and Film Independent.
