The 7th Telluride Horror Show has announced its first wave of films, which includes TRASH FIRE

– The fiercely independent 17th Annual Woodstock Film Festival presents an outstanding lineup of films to be shown in Woodstock, New York, as well as Rhinebeck, Rosendale, Saugerties, and Kingston. The festival runs October 13 – 16.

The festival opens on October 13 with the World Premiere of “Blind,” a romantic narrative feature written by John Buffalo Mailer and starring Alec Baldwin (who will attend the screening with Mailer) and Demi Moore.

– The Mill Valley Film Festival, presented by the California Film Institute, has announced the complete lineup for the 39th edition of the Festival, taking place October 6 – 16. The 11-day event will screen films across Marin County and will feature premieres, panel discussions, and live musical performances.

– Austin Film Festival & Screenwriters Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers’ contributions to film, television, and new media, has announced the full schedule of films and panels for the 23rd annual festival, this October 13 – 20 in Austin, Texas.

The feature film slate includes 20 world premieres, a robust Retrospective series guest programmed by Jason Segel, Paul Feig, Phil Rosenthal, and others, and highly anticipated marquee titles “La La Land” and “Trespass Against Us,” along with screenings of “Wakefield” and “Nerdland.” Find out more information at the festival’s official site.

– The 14th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival, taking place October 12-16 in Wichita, Kansas, has announced the full schedule for this year’s edition of the popular film festival which includes 191 films (47 features, 144 short films) representing 33 countries.

Gala selections include the Opening Night choice of Jeff Grace’s buddy comedy “Folk Hero & Funny Guy” and the Closing Night selection of Dorie Barton’s coming-of-age comedy, “Girl Flu,” bookending Kieran Vallas’ “Delinquent,” which will screen as the Stubbornly Independent competition winner, and Johnny Ma’s “Old Stone,” the Centerpiece Gala selection. – NewFest has announced the lineup of their 28th annual celebration of the year’s best LGBT films from around the world. The festival’s largest program to-date features over 100 narrative features, documentaries, and shorts that shine a light on the LGBT experience.

Programmed in partnership with Los Angeles, Outfest, the New York City festival runs October 20 – 25 at the Cinépolis Chelsea Cinemas, the SVA Theatre, and at the screening room at The LGBT Community Center in New York City. – BendFilm, Central Oregon’s premier and celebrated film festival, has announced their full film lineup, as well as pass and ticket sale details, for the 13th annual festival, set to take place October 6 – 9 in Bend, Oregon.

Highlights include “Voyagers Without Trace,” “First Girl I Loved,” “Little Sister,” “Contemporary Color,” “Sonita” and “All This Panic.” John Sayles and Maggie Renzi will also appear to introduce a special 25th anniversary screening of their “City of Hope.” You can check out more information on the festival’s official site.

– Double Exposure: The Investigative Film Festival and Symposium will hold its second edition October 6 – 8 in Washington, D.C. – Beyond Fest, the highest attended genre film festival in the U.S., has announced its full slate of 2016 programming featuring 27 events and 23 West Coast premieres of mind-bending movie madness. Presented by Shudder, Beyond Fest returns to Hollywood’s famed Egyptian Theatre for 12 days of movies, music and mayhem spanning September 30 – October 11 to generate funds for co-presenter, the nonprofit American Cinematheque.

The festival will open with movie icon Paul Schrader presenting his new feature “Dog Eat Dog” and a special 40th anniversary screening of “Taxi Driver.” Other highlights include “Raw,” “The Bad Batch” and “The Girl With All the Gifts.” Check out more information here.

Openers, Closers and Other Additions

– The Hamptons International Film Festival has unveiled their picks for this year’s Opening Night film and Closing Night film, with Jeff Nichols’ “Loving” set to kick off the festival, while Ewan McGregor’s “American Pastoral” will close it out. The 24th annual Hamptons International Film Festival will be held over Columbus Day Weekend, October 6 – October 10.

– The Chicago International Film Festival has also announced their Opening Night and Closing Night selections for this year’s festival, taking place from October 13 – 27. The festival will open with Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land” and close out with Denis Villeneuve’s “Arrival.”

– The world premiere of Michael Winterbottom’s “On the Road” has been added to the BFI London Film Festival slate. The film, which followed rising British music stars and Grammy nominees Wolf Alice on tour earlier this year, will be presented within the Festival’s Sonic Strand on Sunday, October 9 at BFI Southbank.

Tributes and Honors

– The Hamptons International Film Festival will honor Edward Norton with their Career Achievement Award. Norton will be honored on Sunday, October 9 at a dinner that will be attended by friends and industry peers. The 24th annual Hamptons International Film Festival will be held over Columbus Day Weekend, October 6 – October 10.
