Abigail Spencer’s ‘A Beautiful Now’ Scheduled for Fall Release (EXCLUSIVE)
Monterey Media has acquired all U.S. and Canada rights to Daniela Amavia’s drama “A Beautiful Now,” starring Abigail Spencer, Variety has learned exclusively.
Cheyenne Jackson, Patrick Heusinger and Sonja Kinski also star in the Unified Pictures production. Amavia directed from her own script, in which a group of friends come together to save a dancer (Spencer) who is teetering on the edge of letting go. The film asks “If your life flashed before your eyes —would you like what you see?”
The deal was negotiated with producer Lynn Kressel, Amavia and Monterey Media’s Scott Mansfield. “A Beautiful Now” premiered at the LA Film Festival. The U.S. theatrical launch is planned for September /October to coincide with Spencer starring in the new NBC series “Timeless”.
“We are so looking forward to sharing this lovely, lyrical, haunting film, with its wonderfully layered performances,” Mansfield said.
Spencer’s credits include the SundanceTV drama series “Rectify,” “True Detective,” “Mad Men,” “Hawthorne” and “Suits.”
