‘Queer Eye’: Bobby Berk’s Replacement Jeremiah Brent Is Front and Center in Season 9 First Look
Netflix has released the first look at the new Fab Five following Bobby Berk’s exit from “Queer Eye.” Season 9, the first to star Jeremiah Brent in Berk’s place, will debut on Dec. 11.
Brent stands at the center of the new first look image, and in the season’s key art, seen below, he sits on top of a giant slot machine while the rest of the group is arranged in front of it.
In each season of “Queer Eye,” the Fab Five — a group of gay men, each with a different specialty — help makeover the lives of “heroes” in different cities who have been nominated by their loved ones. Season 9 will be set in Las Vegas and, per the official logline, features heroes “from a former showgirl struggling to regain her confidence to a dedicated librarian in need of a change.”
Besides Brent, who specializes in interior design, the Fab Five includes food and wine expert Antoni Porowski, grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, culture and lifestyle expert Karamo Brown and fashion expert Tan France.
Berk announced his departure from “Queer Eye” in November 2023, posting a statement to social media that read, “It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one.” Brent’s casting was announced in February, and afterwards, rumors circulated that France, supported by Porowski, had advocated for Berk’s removal and Brent’s hiring. France denied those rumors on Instagram, saying “My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired.”
“Queer Eye” is executive produced by David Collins, Michael Williams, Rob Eric, Jennifer Lane, Jordana Hochman, Mark Bracero and Lyndsey Burr as well as Brown, France, Porowski, Van Ness and Brent.
