‘White Rabbit’ Director, Star on Fighting ‘The Blatant Racism of Lack of Representation’ in Media

VarietyLogo1Writer/director Daryl Wein and stars Vivian Bang and Nana Ghana stopped by the Variety Studio presented by AT&T to talk about their new film, “White Rabbit,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

The director and cast were impassioned to talk about diversity in the media, with Wein noting that Asian-American women are rarely seen in a lead role in Hollywood films.

“There was a time where it was like all the Asian-Americans in Hollywood were getting extremely angry because there was so much whitewashing — blatant racism in the lack of representation,” Bang said. “And so that kind of sparked me to be like, ‘Okay, if no one’s going to put me into these stories, then I’m just going to have to create that myself.’”
